What is up, people? Welcome. Thanks for checking out my About Lisa page.

Between high school and college in the early 90’s I spent a year as an exchange student in Spain through Youth For Understanding. My book is about my adventures that year. I hope you will find the stories as funny and occasionally outrageous as I did.

A few years later, I spent my junior year of college in France. Originally, my plan was to return to Spain for my junior year (I was a Spanish major, after all), but I started studying French and my French professor suggested I go to Paris instead. I figured, pour quoi pas? (This means why not?) So Paris, it’s environs, and my adventures there will be a follow up book’s subject matter.

In other writing, I’m thinking about a Middle Grade (MG) or Young Adult (YA) fantasy book (series?) about a unicorn who travels to earth and makes friends with a some Earthlings. That will be a departure, of course, from books about my personal travel adventures, so it should be a challenging and exciting change. Lots of ideas swirling in my mind, like a galaxy (see what I did there?).

Currently I live in the Washington DC area with my husband, two kids, and our dog. I love writing with fountain pens, reading paper books by turning actual pages, jumping in photos, scrapbooking, talking about Harry Potter, traveling, trying to help my kids with their Spanish and French homework, libraries (school and public), family, cursing like a sailor when my kids are out of earshot, sitting on my screened-in porch, and backyard bird-watching.

Thanks for reading about me. Stay tuned for updates on books, writing, and beyond.
